Quotes with the click of a button

User experience planning was critical to providing a forward-thinking company with an efficient, cutting edge online quoting system.

The brief

Aaduki is a market leader in providing insurance to photographers and videographers.

As a forward-looking company, our lead developer was asked to create the facility for customers to obtain online quotes. At the time, this was one of the first such systems of this type to be built!

The solution

An efficient multi-step process has been created to break up the information gathering process.

  • Thorough user experience planning and testing
  • Any entered information can be saved part-way supporting multiple visits
  • Behind the scenes, complex mathematical models calculate customer quotes from the data added
  • On acceptance of a quote, a user is filtered efficiently to payment
  • An automated scheduled email system then sends out renewal notices

The website has since undergone a facelift, with changes to the original web design. The simplicity of the online quoting system remains however, demonstrating the effectiveness of the original system put in place.

You can visit the Aaduki website by using the link shown below.

The impact

The introduction of the system – coupled with a comprehensive SEO/SEM campaign – directly translated to a reduction in man-hours sending renewal notices and handling phone calls.

Dan is a very proficient web developer. For well over a decade, he has provided Aaduki with first-class technical support. Always willing to find ways to solve problems and with a wide range of skills, has assisted in the expansion of our business. He helped us with the development of several quote and buy websites which increased our sales, as well as other web-based projects. I would not hesitate to recommend services from Dan and the team.”

Building a relationship to move forward

Setting up a CRM system that was fit for purpose required thorough research and testing. The results delivered a robust system that successfully automated tasks and saved staff from hours of data entry.

The brief

Cube Direct sources products from a large global network of suppliers. A robust solution was required to manage existing supplier data, alongside an efficient process to enter new details onto the system.

The solution

A CRM (Customer Relationship Management) system was thoroughly researched, tested and deployed.

  • Three separate Zoho applications have been integrated, automating much that was previously required to be entered by hand

  • Emails to suppliers are automatically scheduled, with an online platform that allows suppliers to register and update their details

  • A mixture of coding (PHP, jquery and Zoho’s proprietary language) was written to handle any bespoke aspects required

To see the range and variety of products that the supplier has to offer you can visit the site by using the link shown below.

    https://cubedirect.co.uk/

    The impact

The CRM has been a success, releasing office man-hours and ensuring supplier information is always up to date. Future development will include increased functionality for the issuing of quotes, automatic supplier selection and customer billing.

Working with a diverse range of suppliers from all over the world, we required a CRM that allows us to select exactly the suppliers we require to make our products. Using Zoho CRM as a basis, we worked with Dan and the team to produce an efficient solution that matched our requirements. Significant hurdles were encountered, but with custom development and the integration of other Zoho products, these were overcome, and we very much look forward to advancing the next stages of the CRM build.”

Presenting a picture of the data

Designing an effective visual solution to display complex background maths calculations led to scripting in three different programming languages. The result was a web application to be used as a tool in the battle against diabetes.

    The brief

A graphical solution was required to display data entered into an NHS funded online calculator for the Exeter University Living Systems Institute to show the probability of a child developing Type-1 diabetes later in life.

The calculations were complex, and the real-time interplay between the maths, user interface, and the graphical elements presented a challenge.

    The solution

A simple uncluttered layout was designed so as to support ease of use for all users.

    • Three different programming languages used to create the final interface
    • Real-time interaction with the background calculations
    • Standard data entry inputs to ensure user familiarity (ie sliders, radio buttons and check boxes)
    • Simple use of colour and icons to support results output

This important tool supports the latest ground-breaking data in Diabetes research.

    The impact

Whilst the appearance may be clean and uncluttered, the application has the opportunity to make a considerable impact on the battle against diabetes. Used as one of the tools available, an early warning predictor can allow individuals to make changes to avoid health issues later in life.

A simplified process to matching results

Careful planning and coding experience of web applications were required to provide a robust online platform that ensured a smooth process for GPs to match patient data to their separately sent samples at the lab.

    The brief

Members of our team were briefed to build an online platform for the University of Exeter Medical School that allows GPs to submit patients’ blood results to an online database for laboratory analysis.

As you’d expect for confidential information, security of patient data and robustness of system was paramount.

    The solution

A simple step process was introduced to ensure efficiency and ease of compliance. The steps were logical and reduced the possibility of errors in the matching of any details and samples.

    • Patient information is logged onto the platform by a GP

    • The data is then anonymised, with a unique barcode generated

    • Code printed off and stuck to the blood sample container

    • Samples are posted to the laboratory where patient data and blood samples are married up, ready for analysis

The platform is live and is proving an efficient pipeline for those requiring the lab services. On going evaluation of the process and system has helped to keep the system fit for purpose.

Due to the sensitive nature of the data being handled, visuals and access to this project are limited.

    https://www.exet1d.com/

    The impact

Extending far beyond this project, the research and development time invested in this platform has meant that the team have been able to develop a solution that can easily be incorporated into future university medical projects and applications.

Pic showing the close up of a computer screen showing the Exeter login screen

We commissioned Dan to build this ground breaking platform that enables clinicians to register and submit research participant data remotely and upload biochemistry results from analyses of the participants’ blood and urine samples by our NHS laboratories. This platform could easily be reappropriated for other designs of research study and associated biochemistry tests.”

Evolving Education and Careers: A virtual conference

Organising an engaging three day virtual conference during a pandemic was always going involve thinking differently. The Evolving Education and Careers conference from DMH Associates offered a fantastic opportunity to mix technology and innovative presentation for more than 400 delegates.

    The brief

The brief was to support DMH Associates on increasing delegate signup to a three-day virtual conference utilising innovative marketing techniques and partnership marketing. We were to research and identify the most appropriate technology platform to run the event from a website portal. This included the registration process, multiple webinars, delegate networking and technical support throughout the event. Additionally, the organisation of advance training for the moderators, speakers and staff on the chosen technology platform was required. So too was the provision of delegate guides to ensure easy access.

    What we did

    To ensure delegate numbers:

      • Email marketing to DMH Associates event subscribers creating a story for the conference with tailored messaging to the potential delegate groups

      • LinkedIn contact identification and liaising with speakers and partners to spread the word using their own established networks. Speaker cards and example posts were created to support this process

      • Working directly with sponsors to share the message using their regular channels – web, social etc

      • Developing key strategic partnerships (such as with FE News) so that articles could be published using their channels

Following technology platform research we implemented the following:

      • Use of Eventbrite to manage the registration process

      • Use of Zoom for webinars – this choice was based on both the technical benefits and that as a recognised name that it would reduce fears over operation

      • Use of Whova – a networking platform that integrates with Eventbrite and Zoom. This allowed us to send notifications and emails to delegates, gain feedback, one to one chat with both delegates and speakers, swap business cards and even shared articles

    The impact

Feedback gathered indicated that the virtual international conference was a great success. We received an overall rating of 4.8 out of 5 for the speakers, content and organisation of the event.

One delegate even tweeted – It’s like the equivalent of the Glastonbury Festival for education and careers professionals”.

Whova proved successful, allowing delegates to get many of the same benefits as attending in person, including networking and the development of new industry contacts.

The event ended with a surprise, having a rapper to close the conference with a poetic overview.
